I couldn’t restore a Samsung backup from an old phone that was saved on Samsung Cloud. To get the messages and apps that I had before I:
Installed Nova Launcher
Went to the Home Page and Long Press empty space on and Tap Widget
Select and Drag Activity to the Main Page and go down to Samsung account Storage -> Restore
Once Restore is on the Main Page Tap it and select what you want to restore.
